Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) graduating seniors can apply for a $10,000 scholarship by Jan. 24, 2025, according to MCPS’ X post.
The MCPS Educational Foundation’s (MCPSEF) 2025 Ruth & Norman Rales-Patricia Baier O’Neill Scholarship of $10,000 honors Ruth and Norman Rales’ legacy and former Board of Education member Patricia Baier O’Neill.
The following makes the applicant eligible for the scholarship, according to MCPS:
- 2025 Graduate
- Weighted GPA of 4.80 or higher
- Financial need is demonstrated through one of the following: 2023 household adjusted gross income of $118,323 or less or 2024-2025 Free and Reduced-Price Meals (FARMS) enrollment
- Plan to attend college/university within two years
MCPS said students will need the following components for their application:
- Personal essay
- Confirmation of financial need through one of the following: U.S. IRS Form 1040 for the 2023 tax year showing household adjusted gross income of $118,323 or less, 2025-2026 FAFSA Submission Summary showing household adjusted gross income of $118,323 or less or current enrollment in FARMS
MCPS said students will be notified in April 2025.
